Education

She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and received her B.A. in History and German. Ms. Johnson gained a global perspective during her time spent in Berlin, Germany in an immersion program, and continues to speak conversational German today. Ms. Johnson then pursued her Juris Doctorate at American University, Washington College of Law where she was on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law (the top-cited legal periodical in the United States in the topical area).

While in law school, Ms. Johnson worked as a legal intern for Project HELP through AARP, Legal Counsel for the Elderly. While working on the Homebound Elderly Law Project, she drafted wills and health care/financial powers of attorney. Ms. Johnson also worked one-on-one with clients to understand their wishes for bequests of assets and plans for incapacitation. As a student attorney, Ms. Johnson worked at the Civil Advocacy Clinic at American University, Washington College of Law. In this role, Ms. Johnson served as an advocate for clients on matters such as unpaid wages and fraudulent student loans. In addition, Ms. Johnson served as a law clerk for a Washington, D.C. estate planning firm while attending law school. She gained valuable experience organizing clients' assets and financial statements, filed petitions with courts in Maryland and Washington D.C., and worked with clients and consultants to understand the clients' needs and resolve probate issues.

Experience

Ms. Johnson has a wide range of professional experience working in government as a federal law clerk at the District of Columbia Superior Court. She worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Erik P. Christian at the D.C. Superior Court. Ms. Johnson's work at the D.C. Superior Court was focused on the Family Court's Juvenile and Neglect Divisions and the Domestic Relations Branch, as well as the Probate and Tax Divisions. She also worked with Judge Christian during his run for Chief Justice. Ms. Johnson then worked in the Social Security Administration as an attorney advisor. In this position, she wrote decisions addressing disability claims under Title II and Title XVI of the Social Security Act. This included federal district court remands, child's cases, and drug and alcohol material cases. In all of these roles, her time and effort gave Ms. Johnson a valuable and unique insight into judicial procedures.

Before coming to Feinberg & Waller, APC,, Ms. Johnson worked as an associate attorney at a business and employment litigation and transactional firm in Long Beach, CA. She worked on arbitration and litigation matters spanning entertainment and employment law, gained experience in depositions, cultivated relationships with experts and witnesses, and researched and drafted motions, stipulations, and pre-trial briefs. Ms. Johnson's well-rounded expertise enables her to identify and understand unexpected nuances in each client's matter. She prides herself in cultivating a successful lawyer/client relationship.
